It is part of the mechanism. What is its function? It is located within the Automatic Seatbelt Retracting Mechanism. When the driver or passenger opens the door and sits down, it extends the seatbelt forward for easy access to the seatbelt buckle. When the seatbelt is fastened or after the vehicle is started, the system retracts the belt back into place. The gear transmits the rotational movement of the motorized system that provides this back-and-forth movement. If it breaks over time, the belt extension/retraction function will not work. Symptoms of Malfunction The seatbelt buckle does not move forward. A gear click is heard but there is no movement. The belt remains constantly hanging or has to be pulled manually. Solution The system usually malfunctions because the plastic gear cracks or skips teeth. The mechanism can be restored to its original state by replacing this gear part; there is no need to replace the entire mechanism. Shelf No: ID-02.709 F-162-w207
